Vegas is infamous for being "sin city" hence the saying, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Now, I'm sorry to inform you guys that this article will not be about how I had a wild night in Vegas and how much praying I should be doing to make sure I didn't bring anything back from Vegas...(if you catch my drift.) Now, for all of you that know very little about me, I am very passionate about all types of art forms. One of my many passions is dance, I have been through discipline in ballet, danced as if I was on crack in jazz, and learned how to express myself in hip-hop. Anyways, enough about background history, my most favorite place to be in Vegas is the Wynn tower because it is the home of cirque du soleil's "Le Reve."
Le Reve is translated to "hope is the dream of a soul awake," this very well describes how the performance is portrayed, in a dream-like state. It is filled with good vs. evil, love, passion, envy, jealousy, and a happy ending. It's a conflicted situation that everyone goes through, where they must face a battle within themselves. There is so much emotion in this act that it is constantly giving you goosebumps. I was blown away by the whole thing and ended up in tears.
Le Reve is a show that is performed on water, the gymnasts are all performing in wet clothing, they are hanging from high altitudes, doing crazy amazing flips and turns, and putting everything they have into this production. The props and costumes that are used are phenomenal, every single costume has a purpose and tells a story, whether a simple change from a pure white to a sinful red, every little detail plays a crucial part in the story. The comic relief is provided buy the four cupids and their little dove trick. The light effects are amazing, they vary from thunder to the pits of firey hell. It is absolutely breath taking how the gymnasts maneuver and how they use their body to support an equally heavy body as their own. And I mean like hanging by their feet from at least 150 ft in the air on wires and holding onto another performer and holding them all the way back up to the top.
Though the show is a little pricey, you will not regret it, its a well spent 150 dollars. It's one of the most amazing cirque du soleil shows that there is, it is elaborate, fantasy based and spectacular. If you've gone to vegas and have not watched it, you are definitely missing out on so much.
